What is a CSA?

A Community Supported Agriculture Program supports the efforts of local farmers by ensuring that the farmers have money at the beginning of the season to buy seeds and get the season off to a good start.

LPS and the LotfotL Farm

The LotfotL Farm, located in East Troy, Wisconsin, will deliver a wide variety of healthy, locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables to Lake Park Synagogue. By becoming shareholders in this local farm, we help it to survive and flourish as we help the environment, improve our health, and enjoy Wisconsin's bounty. This program is open to the entire community, not just LPS members.

How does it work?

When you sign up with the farm, you become a shareholder and will receive a box of produce either weekly or biweekly for 26 weeks during the growing season. You pick up your box at Lake Park Synagogue on Wednesday afternoons.

LPS will also provide informative newsletters (including recipes), programming about Jewish aspects of food and environmental issues, and at least one community trip to the farm. LPS will also do its best to help anyone who wants to find a partner for a partial share or a workshare. See our brochure.

New Option - Free Range Eggs!

Eggs will be available starting in May for delivery as an add-on to your regular CSA box. The birds laying these delicious jumbo brown eggs graze the Tirpstra family pasture near Delavan, WI. The 2010 season will be a trial 16 week season, with the possibility of future full-season deliveries. As always, you can save by finding someone from the LPS community to share a delivery with.
